Hey, guys! Yesterday was a pretty eventful day. My mom and I went up to LA and we first stopped at Forest Lawn in Glendale. I'll upload the photos, but I'll be missing a lot of people due to the fact that many of them were in restricted areas (ie Sammy Davis Jr and Humphrey Bogart) and the most famous people were in a mausoleum where a funeral service was being held...so that was out. And I ended up missing MJ and Liz Taylor. Oh well. Anyway, after that, we headed to Amoeba Records, which has a fantastic selection of vinyls, CDs, DVDs, posters, books, t-shirts, you name it. I woke up this morning to find that the legendary fifth Beatle had passed away yesterday. I was in tears this morning, and with good reason. He helped shape The Beatles' music and played a part in their success that nobody else could have. From the idea of the strings on "Yesterday" to the piano on "In My Life," he was almost always there to assure that the band sounded as well as they could. Beatles aside, he also produced hundreds of other records with many talented artists. I admire him more than any other producer on this earth and it's sad to see him go. All I can really say about it is that it's a shock. You never really think about David Bowie in terms of mortality. He was so unreal, very other-worldly. I like to think of him as someone who landed on Earth and accidentally influenced us far more than he intended to, and now it's time for him to go home. If only it were that way, and that he could come back to us in some new form. Somehow now, Space Oddity seems all too real. (1.8.1947 - 1.10.2016)
